The nucleus of the collections is composed by the findings lodged by the former Italian Institute for the Middle and the Far East (IsMEO), today Italian Institute for Africa and the East (IsIAO), coming from its archaeological missions in Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, together with goods bought by G. Tucci between 1928 and 1954 in Nepal and Tibet.
